Don't Dress Up Your Vocabulary

One of the really bad things you can do to your writing is to dress up the vocabulary, looking for long words because you’re maybe a little bit ashamed of your short ones.

  1. One of the hardest things to understand, but simple is best, it is the way that they are arranged that allows your writing live from the page to the reader, not words that have readers reaching for a dictionary every few pages.

    Making a reader reach for the dictionary every few pages, is one sure way to lose them.
